Metal Mornings 21 I’m making another batch of tattoo skincare cream and listening to Slipknot’s ‘Vol. 3 The Subliminal Verses. Its almost 5am and the weak pale light of dawn will soon be leaking through the windows. Vol. 3 is the kind of album suited to this time of morning. Loudness and furious guitars are mixed with slower, melodic instrumentation. There are jolts to wake you up and there is softness to ease you into the day. We find Corey Taylor screaming on one song, and then offering the sweetest of harmonies on the next track. This record is sublime and has become one of my favorite metal albums that I play often. When Vol.3 was first released I was somewhat cool to it, really didn’t know what to make of it as a whole album. I warmed up to it after seeing a number of the songs performed live. Something about experiencing the songs with a bunch of other people made the record more accessible to me and I’m thankful and appreciative for that as a music fan. Scream is a bonus track on special package of ‘The Subliminal Verses’ and is more than apropos given what’s been coming out of Washington in the last week.
Anyhow, back to mixing, measuring and heavy metal. Slipknot Vol. 3 The Subliminal Verses, Scream.
Happy Tuesday 🤘Aleksa.
