Metal Mornings 25 Dethklok Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle

After two nights of wathcing tennis beamed in from the other side of the world (hi Melbourne!) this morning I need coffee, and music that is fast and loud. Enter Dethklok with their perfectly aggressive, caffeine-fueled ditty celebrating the wonderfully named Duncan Hills Coffee. When Adult Swim announced that they would be making Metalocalypse, an animated show focusing on the adventures of a fictional metal band named Dethklok, I was excited. When that fictional band turned out to make some amazing death metal music that was good enough to tour on in real life, well I was doubly impressed. The Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle is a cute ditty (lol) sung by fictional vocalist Nathan Explosion in true death metal style. The song is a little over a minute long, has 67 words, screeching break-neck speed guitars and one of the nicest lines in metal music ‘Scream, for your cream!’ I laugh every time I hear it. To quote Mr.Explosion from the episode:

“We’re here to make coffee metal. We’re here to make everything metal. Blacker than the blackest black… times infinity. Pretty sweet sentiment, no sugar needed.

Welcome to the week everyone, coffee’s on, bottoms up. Aleksa.
